Amber Rose
Welcome
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” – Hippocrates.
My name is Amber Rose – fermentation specialist, author, food writer, food & prop stylist, entrepreneur, mama, qualified doula, and advocate for ancestral food practices.
This website is my personal hub, featuring my best-selling cookbooks, recipes, workshops, and a growing shop. I’m also the founder of www.regenerationsummit.co.nz, where I host live online Regeneration Summits with thought leaders in the regeneration arena.
Currently based on the Matakana Coast in New Zealand, I spent over 15 years in London as a food writer, prop stylist, art director, and private chef, working with advocates of healthy living such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Chris Martin, Kate Moss, and Sadie Frost.
After returning to my homeland in 2016, I launched a hugely successful fermentation business from my kitchen table, which grew to supply supermarkets across New Zealand with my wild fermented products winning multiple awards. I am passionate about helping people better understand the link between soil health, gut health and fermentation, and how these ancestral practices can reconnect us to resilient health—from soil, to plate, to gut.
Growing up in New Zealand, I cherished cooking from my mother’s organic garden and foraging for wild seasonal delights. My parents instilled in me a deep love for food and nutrition – my father a chef and my mother a pioneer in organic horticulture, seed saving and regenerative gardening.
My mother, Kay Baxter, was honored by the Queen in 2018 for her services to heritage seed saving and regenerative agriculture. Her dedication to these topics and my up-bringing has greatly influenced my understanding of the link between diet and human health, especially through my own journey of healing from an autoimmune condition.
Local foods grown from the seeds of our ancestors carry the natural wisdom of our environment, helping us thrive within our local ecosystems.
I believe in the power of food as medicine and advocate for local, seasonal eating, traditional and ancestral nutrient-dense whole foods, and simple, intuitive cooking with fresh ingredients.
Ancestral practices, deeply rooted in tradition, have been cherished by humanity for generations. By incorporating these traditions—such as fermentation, nourishing bone broths, soaking grains, and pairing animal fats to boost nutrient absorption—we can get the most out of our food and thrive within our environment. Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. My cookbooks bring these ancestral recipes to the table, offering healing and deep nourishment for ourselves and our families.
By embracing seasonal and traditional whole foods, we not only improve our nutrition but also connect with our local environment, soil, and heritage.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you enjoy exploring it.
With gratitude,
Amber Rose x
